The annual fireworks show and volunteering in the community provided a robust welcome – or welcome – back to Drury.
The culmination of orientation weekend, the annual Panther Palooza on Drury Lane is a reunion party for returning undergrads and the kickoff of something special for incoming freshmen. With free Pineapple Whip, a selfie van and music from The Mixtapes, the evening ends with a Drury tradition – fireworks on Sunderland Field. Students, faculty, staff and alumni gathered Aug. 19 for the explosive finale, coordinated this year to music from “The Greatest Showman.”

A hallmark of freshmen orientation weekend, students take part in the annual Service Plunge at local nonprofits around Springfield. At Ozarks Food Harvest, students help pack canned goods for distribution. Among other volunteer projects across the Queen City, students helped move mulch at Watershed of the Ozarks, landscape at Eden Village and sort a shipment at Diaper Bank of the Ozarks.
